Unit arrived in the usual Amazon fashion...really well packaged. Install took me about 4 hours, but that included running cables back to my Alpine head-unit. Not an install recommended for a person not extremely comfortable with stereo/vehicle modifications. One thing I can say about this unit is how big it is...15.4 inches is bigger than you think! This went in to a full size pickup (f350) and I still think it looks big. With the unit open it completely blocks the view of the driver out the back window, and while I didn't have an issue finding a flat mounting point for it on the truck, I would think you may want to check the vehicle prior to purchase to make sure you have the footprint required. The picture on the unit is decent, but I have seen better in other brands in regards to picture quality. The only complaint I have with the unit is the chassis seems to flex. It is a very strange situation where depending on how the truck is parked, I can have trouble getting the screen to open. It seems the chassis is flexing in certain conditions, and causing the chassis of the unit to pinch the screen in place. I thought it may be the mounting position, but after several attempts to mount it in different positions, I still have the same issue. Wireless headphones are comfortable, and work well. I do not use the DVD player in my setup, so I cannot comment on how it plays other formats like divx.

Overall I would recommend this unit for a full size truck/SUV/VAN but the 15 inch version is too big for most other applications.

Easy to install.

The screen is BIG.

Only drawback is that there are no built-in speakers for audio (headphones only)

You can work around it by connecting the audio out to an FM modulator. That will allow you to use your vehicle's audio system without any additional wiring.

After I tested it for 1 week it just was really hard to make it read DVDs or CDs, whatsoever... The sound quality is not good... Its being 10 months since I bought this one and it went just back to the original box and replaced it with a JVC MP3/WMA receiver... Way better choice!

I've been around car stereos my entire life. At my age, I've seen a lot come and go. In short, if you are looking for a great head unit that performs as well as Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc., then this unit is it. I have this deck in my FJ Cruiser, along with 4 JL Audio 8" woofers, 2 sets of JL Audio components, and 4inch JL Audios in the dash. I am running a Fosgate amp on the woofers, and an Alphasonik amp on the components and dash speakers. My system is as clean and powerful as $10K+ plus systems I've heard. Get this unit - you will enjoy it.

I researched all brands of DVD players for at least two months before deciding on this Panasonic. I know Panasonic is a trusted brand, but I've never used any of their car equipment before. After all the research was done, I narrowed it down to just a few top choices. Then I began hunting for the best price. That was where I hit a few walls. I think having a DVD player in the car is great, but is it worth $800...? Not to me. After I came to the realization that I wasn't willing to pay that much money, my final decision was easy.. the Panasonic. I can't say enough good things about this product. It does everything that all the other top brands do and for half the price!! I know it might be hard to believe, but it's true. If you're in the market for a DVD player, take this one into serious consideration. I've been able to compare the picture quality to the other popular brands and this one is just as clear. The only thing I can warn any one about is that there is no GPS system for this player. Panasonic states they have plans for it in the future, but as far as I know now, there is none yet.

Bottom line, if you want a great DVD player, with out having to spend almost $1000, this is it. Trust me, I'm a research king and there's nothing else out there..

The cd play doesn't skip no matter what disc is in it or how bumpy the road is. It has more features than what is listed and I highly recommend this because it's a bang for the buck. Don't know because I never got it, I was rip off by the vendor that send me the wrong one because of an error, and then refused to send me the right one because the price was HIGHER, this vendor is ETRONICS, never buy from them, OK he refunded the money, but the point is that he send me the wrong one, and when I asked for the correct one ($100 higher) he said, that was amazon.com error not his. "So much wrong with this unit." 2009-11-13

I have the KVT514, KCA BT200, KST HR200 installed in a Ram 2500. The sound quality is good, however the rest of it is a mess. I wonder if the engineers actually put it in a car and tried it out. Almost all of the buttons on the touch screen are on the right side of the screen, as far away from the driver as possible. The screen is big but the buttons are small. If you play music from a USB stick on "Random" expect to hear the same 20 or 30 songs all of the time and very rarely any others. I would expect it to randomly play all of the songs on the USB before starting over. If a picture is loaded that is associated with a song, the song "skips" until the picture loads. I have never found any of the "hidden" HD radio stations that are advertised. Most of the time it cycles back and forth between HD and regular FM about every minute or so. The way the blue tooth interacts with the phone is dangerous. Looking up a phone number is an involved process. 1st if you do a search and enter a letter ALL of the names with that letter are displayed and you have to search through all of them. Then you have to reach all the way across to the right side to touch the small "display" button, and then hit the small dial button. If you use a programmed number you have to hit the program button (it is big) then hit the small dial button to connect. (Why not make it so you just it the button and it dials?) If the call fails the system locks up and nothing can be done until you turn it off and back on again to reset it. This means pulling over to the side of the road and shutting the engine off as there is no on/off button on the unit. Much more to say, but not enough room. All in all I am very disappointed in the system and really wish I had bought something else.

The Kenwood KVT-514 is the new motorized DVD unit for 2009. This thing can do it all. It is the First of Kenwood's units that works with the iPhone, you will need the KCA-iP301V($25-$30)cable. I doin't have the Bluetooth adapter yet, so I can't vouch for that, But I do know that you can use the screen to dial your contacts, and then you nave the Navigation hooked up while are looking up a place of business(Restaurant) You can press on the phone number and it will dial the place. I have the iPhone & Kenwood KNA G510 - Navigation system bu Garmin. The Nav. is great!! Well it's a Garmin and they are the best in the Nav. business.

I was looking at the Kenwood Excelon DNX8120, It has everything...but..I wanted a good unit that didn't stand out in a parking lot, and a 7in screen in the dash just beggs to be stolen. The screen in the 514 has the new Z-Action(tm) mechanism gives you 12 different viewing angles for optimum visibility. Kenwood's flip out screen units have been very good and reliable. 1 word of CAUTION...KENWOOD ONLY HONORS THERE WARRANTY IF YOU BUY FROM THEIR AUTHORIZED DEALERS..(Crutchfield). This is a lot of money for a unit and adds up if you add all the stuff for it, so a warranty is always a good thing. This thing will do it all I am glad I chose this model. I do my homework and buy the best, You cant beat Kenwood and Garmin both have a very good track record...Enjoy..

I purchased this player from Amazon because I saw that it was a great deal but after much anticipation when it arrived I disconnected my old stereo and hooked up the new xo1945 and found that the one I received did not put out any audio at all.

Video seems to work well as it would play my dvd movies but there was no sound. I completely rewired to be sure there was nothing I was overlooking and still no joy.

Now I have to send it off to xovision directly since amazon doesn't allow exchanges and I could only return it to them. xovision customer service is kind of slow and you can call them but they will not let you send in your player without emailing them and waiting for a response which can take a while.

Also I noticed on the main screen of the player there are buttons for TV, GPS and Bluetooth. I asked xovision support about this since they say not supported if you touch them and they would only reply that the player did not have those features and there are no firmware updates for it.

Seemed a little odd that those are there but not able to be used at all. The player it's self looks great. The screen is a nice size and videos seem to play fine on it.

Hopefully once I get my shipped to xovision they will send me a working unit and this will not continue to be a problem as I love the player and can see movies on it but I get no audio output at all no matter what source I'm on.

I installed mine really easy, by the time it took me to remove the old radio and installed the XO Vision XO1945 radio it took me about an hour. I can say that so far I love it man. One of the best radio I ever have. In the future I am planning on adding the other accessories, like the monitor in the back for the kids and also the camera etc...

I would recommand it to anyone to buy, cause it works fine for me. Yah enjoy, if you got it as well....

I just installed the xo1945 on my 1996 Town and Country and it works great! The factory CD player has not working and I was looking for a inexpensive unit that would play anything to replace the factory one the XO1945 fit the bill in a big way. I was worried that it would not fit the space but it fit and looks good. Not sure why all the issues from the prior reviewer. One do have to connect the cable the right way and I also purchase the install kit and harness and antenna adapter for my vehicle. The antenna adapter was not needed. And the Pink brake wire has to be connected to ground for the the DVD to display while driving. I am very happy with the unit and I ordered a second one to install in my 2005 T&C. Nothing wrong with the factory CD/radio on 2005 except it does not play MP3/DVD/WMA etc.

The menu does takes a little to get used to. but after a little reading and practice is quite simple. I let my wife read it and explained to me she is the smart one in the family.

The control pannel does look and feel sturdy. I would however put a pda film on the touch panel to protect it. This was an excellent buy and I am very happy with it. I would recommend it to a friend and in fact I ordered a second unit for my 2005 T&C minivan. Funny thing is that it comes with a stylus but has no place to put it but I found that it is actually not needed the touch panel and remote work fine. So far I really like this unit and My wife doe too.

I had bought one of these, and it wouldnt work at all. I returned it, thinking it was just defective. the second one worked fine, and after about a week, the cd/ dvd, aux input, and sd slot stopped working. This third one doesnt stay clipped in to the radio. Crappy product. Dumb of me to try 3 times! Dont waste your money.

This is one of the best in dash units i heard in a while. Really help the speakers bump, and loud. You just have to make sure they connect the yellow wire to where its continues to run power or it won't hold your presets/memory.

I bought this TV about 3 years ago is its worked flawlessly. However, I just read in the tech specs that the tuner is an NTSC tuner which means its an analog TV - and wont work when the cable systems go digital on Feb 17 - unless you have a converter. Just an FYI - good luck!

I really love this TV/DVD/Radio/CD/Clock/AM/FM Radio and speaker phone. Yes,it is even a speaker phone if you plug it into a telephone jack. It can be used as a baby monitor with a few add ons.

The best thing is that it is very slim and compact, you barely see it under the counter until you pull the screen down. It has a 10.2" wide-screen LCD TV. It of course doesn't have the picture quality that a plasma has but it is fine for the kitchen. I love being able to put in a DVD for my grandkids while they eat their lunch and watch the news while fixing breakfast.

I did quite a bit of research on this particular model, so I was pretty confident about my purchase. So far, it's great! The touch screen responds to the finger or the nail. You must make sure that when you touch your selection, that you give it a second to register, and hold your finger/nail there longer than just a tap. The remote has alot of buttons and is the size of a tv remote, but that doesn't bother me a bit. Overall, I am very pleased with this product.

This is excellent, My wife wants now to get another for her car, The only detail I find is that you can only control de Ipod music from the stereo, I think this is more confortable if you control the ipod music directly from the ipod screen and not from the Stereo screen. I kept the original car saound and it got much better with this stereo. I feel satisfied.

The player worked great and was a decent deal for the money... Had a couple problems though.... I would put in a dvd and it would sound like the player was tearing itself apart figured out that the wiring was screwy and i fixed that so it worked perfectly... I really hate the "safety" feature on the device which makes it so you have to put parking brake on/off/on/off/on (quickly i found works better) and leave it for 10 secs before the actuall picture would go through or you have to do it again. I found if you just ground the cable to the frame (test if there's any current going through frame, OR THIS WONT WORK!!!!) wire a spare wire/cable to frame then wire the other end to a switch and the other side of the switch to the yellow ground cable they give you that goes into stereo. Then to play movies just flick the switch franticly and then turn to "off" position it should play unless you did something wrong. I did it because I dont know about you but using the brake is a hassle and if your on a hill its just a pain to do... just be smart DONT PLAY MOVIES WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a couple more things is that the screen is very touchy and will crack easy. and the motor that makes screen come out usually will die after a year of use. BUY THE INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $40 for 4 years is worth the cost!!! I used to work at Best Buy and this item (and almost all dual and kenwood) has the highest return rate. Dont say i didnt warn you when it dies in a year maybe two if your lucky, and then you've basically thrown $400 away.

I bought this dual 8182 in Jan o7 and never really played dvd's or cd's since I use my ipod for music video's and music. I decided to put a dvd in today-months after, only to find out the thing does not accept any kind of disc it just keeps ejecting repeatedly after failing to read them,so for anyone who's looking at a dual and c's my review please take warning its not worth the risk even for the cheap price.

Es un aparato muy bueno, al principio tenía un poco de temor por que no conocía la marca pero después de instalarlo y probarlo puedo recomendarlo plenamente. Tengo dos semanas de tenerlo y aprovechando la gran cantidad opcionales que tiene le instale además uno parlantes MB Quart dos amplificadores uno para los parlante y otro para un subwoffer. El video es de muy buena calidad, el sonido excelente y el bluetooth genial se escucha perfectamente y el interlocutor te escucha muy bien también. Ahora estoy pensando incorporarle un sintonizador de televisión una camara trasera y un par de monitores para los recuesta cabezas. Precisamente en esto radica lo excepcional de este radio la gran cantidad de extras a las que uno puede tener acceso con un solo aparato y si a eso adicionamos el buen precio queda totalmente recomendado. Lo único en contra es la poca cantidad de cosas que puede hacer con el celular solo se puede contestar y llamar y remarcar las últimas tres llamadas, pero no permite traspasar la agenda telefónica al radio. Pero bueno talvez ya es pedir mucho. Excelente cómprelo sin miedo.

Got this item last month and it rocks, can't beat value & reliability for price. I do have a few little gripes.

Good:

This is a decent head unit with very good interface, screen clarity and DVD playback. Sound quality was very good considering I have no amp and I liked that sound options could be configured. I read reviews on other sites before buying and as advertised most of the functions worked. I was able to play DVDs, MP3 CDs, and regular CDs. The bluetooth worked ok for audio transfer (with Nokia 6230 & Blackberry Pearl), and handsfree mic sounded ok on receiving end. I like the piano black with brushed chrome look and feel. I did not install the backup camera, and did not get the tv tuner unit in time for the install, but the aux-in port works fine.

Gripes:

I haven't gotten the ipod interface to work yet though - i currently have an Ipod nano (3rd gen). The Dual logo displays on the ipod, but the head unit keeps saying "connecting..." I think it may be a compatibility issue with the nano firmware version. Will check this out, but I can use the 3.5mm in jack as an alternative, and the nano does get charged using the ipod jack connection. I had to use a by-pass for the parkbrake - had a little trouble at first, but resolved this. Would have liked this unit to come with Divx and have more functionallity with the bluetooth - does not read call address book on blackberry pearl correctly. Tends to get warm quickly.

Overall:

This unit was professionally installed in a '04 "Corolla". Installation was quick and almost pain free (by-pass to parking brake took some time - I do not live in a state with video restrictions). I would recommend this unit to any one. Its a good sturdy unit with lots of features, and I could not find another unit at lower price vs reliability concerns.

"Disappointing" 2009-12-13

I installed this unit in my 2009 Subaru WRX. I removed it and returned it after 3 days.

The good:

-It has a good amount of power. I ran this to my stock speakers and they sounded much, much better than they did with the factory receiver.

-Good build quality. The physical unit feels well made. Mechanical flip face works smoothly, buttons and volume dial feel solid.

-It's cheap.

The bad:

-iPod integration is terrible. There is no way to easily scroll through artists/albums etc. You have to click an arrow to flip through each individual entry. This is OK if you have a couple albums on a nano, but not OK if you plan to connect an iPod with a large library. Finding an artist beginning with 'N' took close to 100 clicks with my full 120GB iPod classic. And if you want to go from Nelly to Nirvana, you have to start all over from 'A' again.

-Poor screen resolution. Font edges are jagged.

-No dimmer. It has a dimmer connection wire, but it did not work on my unit. The screen was at full brightness at all times, and the manual dimmer control did not work either. At night it was like having a spotlight in my dash.

-Restarts between sources. Every time you change sources, the entire unit restarts. Screen shuts off then on and everything. It doesn't take too long, 3-4 seconds maybe, but it is rather odd and obnoxious. I took the whole thing out to check for a loose connection when it first happened. Called Clarion about it and they said it is normal operation.

-Navigation. The specs list this unit as being compatible with an optional navigation unit. However, the only input for the navigation unit is a component video connection. So if you were to connect navigation, the VX409 would only serve as a monitor, and you would not have touch screen control of anything.

Overall, the actual physical unit could be quite nice. However the software feels like going back to using Windows 95.

I am very pleased with this Panasonic model. For the price, it does everything I need. Dvd for my daughter to watch and also back-up camera ready for my work trailers. I purchased this mainly for the BLUETOOTH and the PRICE. After installing

it, I discovered my Blackberry Model 8330 would not sync up. I called the

CXXXXXXXX Advisor, and they shipped me a new unit. This new unit too

did not workl The whole rado would lock up when I tried to pair up my

phone. After countless E-Mails to VALOR it was decided that THEIR

Radio was not compatiable with Blackberry/PDA Phones. I sent an E-

Mail to Verizon, and they wrote the following:

*** The compatibility is unfortunately dependant on the Bluetooth radio.

Based on the response from valor it doesn't look good. If they aren't using

a chipset that works with most pda's I hate to say it, but I would explore

finding another radio and requesting a refund for the existing one.

I drive a 04 Chevy Silverado with Double-Din opening and got the Valor DD-858W which fit perfectly in place. I love the unit--it's the only one I could find that had slots for SD memory cards (2 of them--I use 1 for pictures and 1 for video/pics) and a USB port! Plus, it comes with Bluetooth (though the mic could be better)and a real IPOD connector (so you don't have to use the USB port and can save it for other devices) whereas the other ones I looked at charged for these options. It's a great value for the price and functionality. Oh yeah it plays CD/DVDs too and you can hook up a rear view camera. The overall design is plain and simple and it sounds really good just powering the stock speakers. I like Valor. I never heard of them before and took a chance but I like it and would by it again.

"Excellent value for hard-to-find double-din unit" 2009-07-01

Price has gone up since I bought it, but it is still an excellent deal considering a conventional AM/FM/CD will run almost as much in the double-din format (I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma). Have seen complaints about the display being dim, but this is not the case (there is a DIM button on the unit and it cycles through the brightness levels). Have also seen complaints about needing the remote control to access certain functions - also not true. All the functions, including setup are available on the touch screen. There is apparently a 2GB limit to the SD cards (I haven't tested this with larger cards since 2GB cards are dirt cheap and hold huge amounts of music) and the unit takes two of them plus has a USB port and an ipod connection. The only inconvenient thing is that the Bluetooth capability uses a microphone on a wire instead of having it built into the unit but that actually makes sense since most double-din units are located low on the dashboard. Bluetooth quality is excellent. DVD player plays DivX and XviD videos. Overall terrific value.

"Don't Sleep On This Deal" 2009-12-15

Pros: Has Camera Input, Nav Input, Aux input, Built in Tuner(analog.....but they make a digital converted you can buy for OTA HD channels), SD Drive(I use a Micro SD with an adapter...will only recognize 2GB or less though...ALSO This deck does not support Video off the SD....Music and Pictures Only), has video out for you to install extra TV's, and supports every DVD I have(even the ones burnt in Convert X). The screen is very responsive. Works even better with a pen, but I use a Stylus. The flip down is awesome!!! Whatever is on the screen stays when you flip it down. It also has a "quick" GOTO button on the remote so you can minimize your video when the cops are lurking. Be sure to connect the BROWN brake wire to the regular ground(black). The picture is crystal clear from DVD(You will be shocked at the quality of the video).....Especially converted HD ones. Looks awesome in my 2000 Ford Explorer. Have played HD porn, House MD episodes in HD, X264 movies and etc from this deck. The OS is simple to navigate through.

Cons: I have yet to figure out how to display the time in the background. I really don't care because I have a cell phone on me at all times. The GUI is not that "new age" looking but it is more than adequate given the price of the unit. One pair of my RCA coming off the back of the unit was distorted a bit, but it was fixed with a inline RCA noise filter. The deck was a tad larger than my factory DIN, but I worked around that. Despite these few issues the deck is still nice and deserves 5 stars. For all the features you just can't beat it.

Other Thoughts: I had second thoughts about geting this deck, but I am more than satisfied and have worried for nothing. If you are looking at this....BUY IT! You won't regret it. For those that got a faulty unit.....Well no manufacture is perfect. Even Clarion, JVC, and etc. have sent out failed units. There is no reason to crap on such a inexpensive & feature rich deck for one defective unit. This deck has everything BUT Bluetooth......Who wants that anyway....You could be in the car with a chic and another chics name and number pops up and the call is heard through the system speakers?......No Thanks!....I got too many different women for that! Buy this deck if you are on a budget or not. It is awesome given the price and free shipping!....I overnighted mine though! 8o)

Also the XO Vision logo you see in the front is just a sticker that can be peeled off. I took mine off being that XO Vision is not on any of the GUI menus. My friends think I paid alot for it and think it is a name brand unit. It performs like a name brand unit.

I recently purchased the Clarion overhead monitor with DVD player for my trip from New York to North Carolina to keep the kids occupied and need to warn all who would consider buying this product to turn away now. A complete waste, as now we have a piece of junk installed to the ceiling that doesn't do anything really. Don't even spend another second, as this product is useless garbage. After buying this and spending additional money to have it installed properly (something which is very tough to do, good luck finding a way to install it yourself) I unfortunately discovered this product is completely defective. No matter what DVD is put in, the player freezes around 5 seconds into playback. I bought brand new DVD's to test it, and the player couldn't handle it. At this point, when pressing restart and trying again, the player stopped working completely. This happened for every movie (I tried several) I tried to play, new or old. It is a bad reflection on Amazon that something as defective and dissapointing as this is advertised. This product deserves 0 stars. Do not waste anything on this product. This garbage should not be listed for sale to begin with.

I live outside US so I have to spend a some money to send it there to claim for my Warranty.

I've bought many things at Amazon and I was expecting more quality from this stuff, but I was WRONG!

This stuff starts failing almost from the first month: someday the screen gets blue, the next day it works, the next the touch screen doesn't work, some other days it works.

Bad image, bad sound, interface sucks, remote can put you in trouble while you drive 'cause you got to read so many little fonts to reach your function, poor manual.

Wrong decision, wasted money!

I purchased this system to install in my '06 Ford Explorer as the factory CD player it came with was a hunk of junk. My husband did the installation, which was pretty simple with the help of google and good old-fashioned trial and error-I agree the user manual is completely useless where installation is concerned. If you purchase an indash kit from Daddyos, you'll find better instructions there.

REGARDING THE FEATURES:

RADIO- perfect! I was able to receive so many more stations with the antenna, which was a huge upgrade from my factory radio.

IPOD- works great! I connected my iPod Video 30GB. Both audio and video quality are excellent using the AUX (red, white, and yellow) cord, and we just happened to have one lying around the house. Completely ignore the "ZPodLink" nonsense (just has red and white). Insert the other end into earphone input on your iPod in order for both video and audio to play on the screen. All my movies, videos and video podcasts play just fine. NOTE: Make sure the settings on your iPod are set to TV output. We took apart our car like four times trying to figure out what was wrong with the video input, before we realized the error was on the iPod.

DVD- works great! Video quality is excellent! The sound quality is awesome, movies sound like you have a home theater installed. Controls are simple. Only complaint was in our system, after you insert the DVD, the screen goes back to its original position, but it makes a clicking sound while doing so. We're guessing it's due to a mechanical error. I called customer service to exchange the unit, but the return process is too complicated and we needed it installed by Christmas so we didn't bother. The clicking noise wasn't that serious.

BLUETOOTH- works great. The sound quality again is awesome. We installed the mic on the top of the dashboard between the steering wheel and the radio and got no complaints. Everyone we called said they could hear us clearly.

USB/SD- USB doesn't work-at least not with our iPod. The extension USB input they provided did not charge the iPod nor did it tranfer any data from it. I'm still trying to figure out what it's for as the user manual does not mention this feature. I have not tested the SD input as yet.

TV/GPS/CDC.-Have not tested either. This model does not come with GPS. I have no idea what CDC is for.

This Double Din In-dash Multimedia system is great. It's simple, cheap and for the price you get great quality and a cool looking device. The features you will actually use work flawlessly. I honestly feel previous reviewers are overreacting and are being highly critical of things that don't matter. If you're looking for a super high quality multimedia device with a million features you're not going to use and no flaws, go pay big bucks for it.

the previous reviews were correct. this thing doesnt even deserve 1 star. the touch screen is unresponsive the remote looks like they just threw buttons on it without any thought. the sound quality is really, truly horrible. the screen is so bright at night that it makes using the dome light in the car obsolete and guess what.. there's no way to dim the screen. at times the unit gets confused and just turns off after a 1 minute delay.

the dvd playback is about the only decent thing about it but the sound is still crappy and can someone tell me what's up with the bright blue screen that comes on when using the auxillary function? no data no text just a blank, bright blue screen.

overall this is the worst radio/dvd system i've ever come across, i had it in the car for about 3 days before i coudnt take it anymore and actually replaced it with the factory unit. BE WARNED THIS IS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.

i thought its a good unit, but sadly it isnt. this thing is so damn stupid that it could blind you during driving at night , and u cannot dim it to be comfortable , and the screen that shows when u r playing mp3 is so bright blue which is more annoying during night.

the sound quality is crap , my oem unit was much better than this.

touch screen responds very slowly and you have to click it sevral times to respond .

when playing your ipod you get a BLANK blue screen.!! which again blinds you while driving at night.

the radio signal is not good , my impreza antenna is very good so im sure its a head unit problem. and when in radio mode you get a message that keeps scrolling at the bottom of the screen which says " ADVANCE AUDIO ENTERTANMET SYSTEM " it keeps going for ever.

you have many functions that has to be done using the remote control and not available on the screen

and after you contact the customer service sevral times they finally answer after 2-3 days , in a very annoying way they respond with very limited info.

ive sent them an email asking about all the annoying things on the unit and if there is an upgrade to the firmware. the reply back i got was "NO" without even a greeting.

ohh any by the way the user manual is so diffrent from the unit. contact me if you need more info my email is hadirabie @ hotmail . com

ohh and the bluetooth function is ok but the sound quality is crap and ppl cant hear u at all on the other side.

I got the kvt-512 along with the kna-510 installed in my 06 TSX. So far, all is good and no real complaint. The unit is loaded with features and options so what you can do with it is limitless. I have this unit connect through my factory head unit but the sound is still pretty good. The dvd is nice and clear and the navi works great. The touch screen is very responsive as well. I really like the fact that it plays mp3s off of a dvd. It is also convenient that it comes with a usb port to play mp3s off of. You can buy a ipod adaptor but why when you can get a cheap usb drive to play your music out of. I have it connected to a 8 gig thumb drive(bought for like $15) that I perminantly keep on there since it is plenty to hold all of my music.

You have to touch the screen on a unmarked location to activate the menu control options which is something I need to get used to. So far...I am definitely enjoying my new toy.

December, 2008 There are a lot of features in this box and they all work well.

I have had this radio for about a day, and played with most of its features while wiring it up into the dashboard of a motorhome. This is simply the most bang for the buck available with all of the features that were desired... Navigation, Rear View Monitor, CD/DVD/VCD, AM/FM, Bluetooth and external Video input from another device.

The Radio interface is very basic. The radio is simply an AM/FM radio with no display of the INFO or data that is broadcast - and it is not an HD radio. But it has excellent quality audio played through the speakers on both the AM and FM bands. The display simply displays the 6 frequencies that have been programmed for that particular band.

The Bluetooth interface works well. If you play music on a streaming device, it will play through the radio's speakers. And you can make and receive calls through your Bluetooth phone.

GPS system works very well, as I had just plugged in the antenna, and as soon as I brought up the GPS, it showed exactly where I was on the map. I have not used it for navigation yet, but there are other reviews online that indicate the navigation software is adequate.

There are external jacks for displaying the DVD video and other screens on an external monitor and separate 4 channel audio outputs as well. The video and front R/L audio drive a larger monitor elsewhere in the RV.

The reverse video input works well. All you need to do it hook one of the wires in the supplied wiring harness up to the reverse light wire on your vehicle, and whenever you put your vehicle into reverse, the screen automatically switches to the rear video input, while continuing to play whatever audio source you were playing. If you have purchased and wired a reverse video camera on the back of your vehicle, you can always see what is behind you.

When playing DVDs, it is easy to step though the various sound tracks and other DVD features.

The secondary SD slot works with only older style SD cards with capacities up to 4GB. MP3s and videos can be on the SD cards or burned onto CDs or DVDs and played on this system.

It would be nice if there were some technical user type interface into the operating system of this box, but no information can be easily found on the internet. I would anticipate very little product support if you get into trouble with this box. It is better for the do-it-yourself types who want a lot of features and can support themselves. If you are that type, then you can save over $400 with this versus a comparable product with a name brand. There are some very similar products listed on EBay, directly from China. The screen shots are very similar to the XOVision with minute differences in each screen, but the button placement, SD card slots and the way the video screen folds down are all similar.

On the outside this receiver looks great, it loaded with features and has an attractive price. I wasn't happy with it once I had it in my truck though.

Problems:

1. No dimmer, like no wire at all, at night this is a huge problem

2. SC card can only read 512 megs

3. Everything on the display blinks and moves and seems really busy, no way to turn it off and listen to music, and since you can't dim anything it is hard to ignore at night (everything = even stuff like EQ pre-set name, media type, all of it)

4. The remote isn't setup well at all, hard to get a feel for it since all the buttons are the same, had to look at it to see what I wanted to push

5. Manual states the unit will read ID3 tags but mine would only show track numbers

6. MP3 Navigation isn't good

I returned mine.

I bought this radio because of it's price point (although it went even lower right after I bought it), its DVD player and USB connection. I installed it in my camper and put a pair of Pioneer speakers to it; not impressed with the sound.

I haven't tried the DVD yet, but I couldn't get the Ipod to play anything but my entire music collection, with no control over selection, play list or any other standard feature. I wrote to Boss Audio and was told that it was not intended to be for an Ipod. Their suggestion was to use the 2.5mm jack. WTF?

First, the jack does not charge the Ipod and the sound is inferior to USB output. Secondly, if it's not for and Ipod, what am I supposed to use a USB jack for?

The Boss indash cd/mp3/dvd receiveris a great choice for any vehicle, it had clear and easy instructions for installation for the do it yourself person. As far as music quality and power, it rocks by itself .. no need for additional amps and/ or equalizers as it has a built in equalizer. So power output is great.

One of the great features is the usb direct input in the front face. Bringing the advantage of using your ipod/ iphone or any music player with a usb attachment, so now you can have your favorite tunes on the go.

Only disadvantages are; it does not display individual songs names and the fast forward feature is slow.

but over all for the price great buy.

"The best i'v ever had" 2009-11-08

I bought this deck about 2 weeks or so ago and i couldn't be happier with it.. The EQ is just amazing in it because it has more presets then my other dual came with, but my only problem with it is that the screen is a little to bright for night driving... And with the screen down it is a little to bright, but other then that it is the best bang for the buck i have seen for a while now concidering the fact that i saved over HALF the money i would have spent in the store...

So if you are looking for a radio that looks good and performs i would buy this one, and if you are going to install this yourself dont be intimidated by all of the wires that it has i installed this by myself in my driveway in about 2.5-3hrs or so due to the fact that the sun going down and needing stuff from the house... So altogether it was a pretty simple install just about anybody with a basic understanding of wireing can do... That or do it like i did and connect the wires one by one so that you don't get them crossed...

This car stereo very functional and aesthetically pleasing but not as user friendly as I would have liked or expected it to be...the owner's manual that is included with this item is practically useless...so, if you, like me, decide to buy it anyway, you're on your own! Installed two DVD players with headrest monitors (also from BOSS). Best feature is the insert/eject mechanism without a drawer, which allowed mounting vertically inside the center armrest/console. Two players and two monitors are perfect for kids in the back seat. With dual channels and wiring included, they can watch separate videos or tune in to the other's player. One remote control was defective, but they interfere with each other anyway, so have to use buttons on the players. Another complication was the two players and two monitors took so much power a direct connection to the fuse panel (40 watts) was required.

i bought one of these just because i was on a budget. first of all dont let the screen fool you it doesnt have a gps option. youll have to buy that. second, it would NOT fit in my 2007 tiburon. it looks good has plenty of features but its not very smart. clear pictures and everything but dont watch anything duriong the day. you wont be able to see it. and the instructions it came with looks like a fourth grader wrote them. i plan on keeping it for awhile or at least till something better comes by. but i wouldnt reccomend buying it unless its a last resort kind of thing.

I received this last week and I'm happy with it. Of course I would like more features but for the money you cant go wrong. Install was easy although install instructions was not included. Bypass for E-brake was easy to do as well. The bluetooth sounds good with no complaints from the people I called. I do like the bluetooth transfer feature. I can listen to the music I have on my Iphone streamed to the headunit. That feature is cool, and it sounds good.The screen looks good as well. All in all I think it was a good buy for the money. I would recommend this to anyone on a budget

Ok, so I did a bit of research before buying this receiver and I finally decided to get it. The selling point for me was the integrated bluetooth, thusly no need to buy any further bluetooth add-on. And also the iPod integration was important and it seemed this receiver made it easy. Ok, so I received it and had it installed and the first impression was that this was one really cool receiver. So this is when it gets frustrating. I didn't have an iPod so I went over to my local Best Buy and picked up a new 6th generation 80gb iPod. I connected it and found out that the video button on the Clarions screen did not show up to watch the movies stored on the iPod. I went to the Clarion website and found absolutely no answers as to why this happened. So, to make this already long story short, I found out that only the 5th generation iPod works on this system. So if you are considering buying this receiver I highly recommend it and I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4 had it not been for that whole iPod situation I went through. Now, it works great, the bluetooth feature works great, both for calls and streaming audio. And that's all.

Pros:

This one is a new version, March 2009 release.

1. In-Built Bluetooth works fine and plays music directly from Iphone without having to connect any wires to it. No hissing nor static noise in the back ground. Audio from Bluetooth is crystal clear.

2. Rear view camera(bought a 40 USD camera from Amazon and hooked it up by myself), DVD player, FM(16 presets), all works as advertised.

3. Cheaper (270 USD) when compared to Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD with Blue tooth which comes to atleast 420 USD.(with the steering wheel interface)

4. I got Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD (just for comparison) and this unit and tried both of them in my Honda Pilot to check how it works and did not see any difference in quality.

5. Bought a soldering Iron(15 USD) and soldered all the wires by myself. (saved 60 USD in installation charges).Instruction manual provided is more than sufficient to do it.

6. Prompt customer support via email when you register in their website.

I hope the quality of this product lasts for a long time.

Minor tweaks

1. Connected the Dimmer to the parking brake to make the DVD play in the front panel as well.

2. Had to connect the rear view camera trigger wire to the back up light system.

3. Need to connect the rear view camera video output to the CAM input.

I bought this from Amazon due to my previous dealing with them. However, THIS TIME I got a 'used, returned' item in VERY POOR packaging. The box was NOT factory fresh. Some items were loose, others opened and not resealed or resealed poorly. I paid for NEW, but got USED. VERY disappointing!!!!!

Now for the BAD news...

this happened TWICE in a row. The second time I just returned for REFUND. I will be VERY HESITANT to order from Amazon again. They totally LACK Quality Control in their shipping dept.

It came quickly. Does everyting it is supposed to, easy to install. Instructions were kind strange . touch screen works pretty well, although its not as interactice as i would have hoped, alot of time its more easy to just use the remote. dvd plays nice screen looks good it is probally better not to watch the widescreen as it cuts out alot of the picture on an allready small screen. It also only reads up too a 2gb sd card but thats no big deal to me. bluetooth works well but it is an external mic so youll have to find a place to run the wire. all and all not bad bang for the buck

this unit is great the sound is great and the video is great. all things as expected for the brand and the price. only setback is when connected to the cdi200 whihc is the ipod cable connector, the unit is unable to charge the ipod unit and apparently pioneer customer support answered that ipod has upgraded and they have not so no go with charging.

This System is an excellent replacement to the stock radio in my BMW 330i. At first I couldn't decide between this model or the AVH 5100 but once I fired up the 5000 all doubts went away. Sound is crystal clear and it's extrememly user friendly. I routed the USB and the I-Pod interface thru my glove compartment and I also bought the XM-Radio Tuner which performs flawlessly with this system because it's Satellite Ready. DVD player works excellent also. Future plans are to get the Reverse Camera, bluetooth module, and the HD-Radio reciever then I'm done............I hope. lol

"All of the features, none of the class of higher end units" 2009-11-16

Pros: Large, motorized screen, has all the features you find in higher end units.

Cons: Screens and displays are very blocky and unattractive. Large blocks of text get in the way of what you're trying to see. Nothing is intuitive except setting stations. Sends you to subscreens for everything, even simple tasks like changing tracks.

Summary: The Power Acoustik gives you a lot of features for the money. However the buyer should be aware that you're getting what you pay for here. It definitely does everything it says (if you're lucky. I had problems with 2 units). It's how it does it that bother me. Yes you get a big screen, but it's one of the ugliest displays I've seen. Yes, it's touch screen, but you have to touch it a LOT to do the simplest thing. For example if you're listening to a cd and simply want to go to the next track, you'll have to touch the screen, which in turn brings up a series of boxes with text. Aside from the fact that these boxes are huge and ugly and block most of what you're trying to see in the first place, it's very clunky and distracting when in most higher end unit you can just touch the track you want on the screen.

When listening to a dvr cdr full of music, the unit gets Kudos for even being able to play it. But it takes about 30 seconds for it to load before you hear any music at all. And you'll have to do that every single time you turn the key off, even for a second. Imagine a day of running errands. While you're waiting on the cd to load, all other functions are inoperable, so you can't even switch to the radio while you wait.

When you have a cd full of mp3 files loaded you'll get a split screen with the album title on the left and the track listings on the right. Nice. But again, instead of simply touching the track or title listing you want, when you touch the screen you get those big blocky text things. Then you must touch the "Left" or "right" button. Once you get to the side of the screen you want you must painstakingly toggle up and down to the title you want by repeatedly touching huge blocks printed with the words "up" and "down". Once you finally have what you want highlighted you still have to touch the big huge "enter" block to make it play, then "exit" to get all that crap off the screen.

Keep in mind that all this stuff appears over the top of the listings your trying to see.

When you compare that to say, a Pioneer unit where you simply touch your finger on the screen and drag it down to move the list of songs up and down, then touch the one you want....you start to understand why they cost more. And you wonder if it's worth the extra money.In my case, absolutely. This unit has all of the features of the Pioneer I was looking at, a bigger screen than the one I was looking at and even an sd drive that the pioneer unit didn't have. But in hindsight I would gladly pay $100-$200 more for a double din that just works more intuitively and looks better doing it (the sd drive in the one I have, a replacement unit, doesn't work by the way).

"Very Good with Minor Flaws" 2009-08-24

This screen is awesome when it comes to clarity and definition. The touch screen is wonderful and flawless. Some of the key features are the bluetooth. The Bluetooth is able to stream music and phone services along with your phonebook. The only flaw to the bluetooth is that in order to use the on screen display, you have to go to that menu. So if your watching a movie and want to make a call, its better to pick up your phone and dial it and it will dispay on the screen for the duration of the call, and then resume the movie. The caller ID works well and everything. The other flaw is that the microphone cord is not long enough to mount in a far distance. Other than that, I think everything is great. I can change bass and treble and EQ while on any screen without music turning off. Good product. Very pleased.

This head unit could be very good for the money, but here are some of the cons first:

CONs:

1. The software user interface on it is the worst I've ever seen - very difficult and frustrating to use. e.g. If you are playing MP3s from a USB drive, and want to change the bass/treble, the music stops as you navigate to the on-screen menu where the base and treble is. After you adjust the bass/treble and naviate back to the USB source where you're music is playing from, it resumes. Another example of the user interface is the playback screen for MP3s when playing from the USB drive: It is terrible and virtually impossible to use. The only way you can really navigate relatively easily is using the remote control. (but see #2)

2. The remote stopped working the day after I installed the head unit. It's very cheap, unintuitive, and frustrating to use.

3. The built-in SD card slot is behind the DVD screen which opens until it's completely horizontal, allowing you to insert an SD card. The problem is, the unit would not read any SD cards I have, independent of whether I had 10 songs on it the root of the card, or thousands in sub folder. It may work for a non-SDHC (4GB size or smaller), but I no longer have any of these small cards. I don't want to switch amongst a bunch of small SD cards to play music - that would be taking a step backwards for me.

4. There is no rear USB connection where you can attached a USB storage device and keep it out of sight. I looked inside, and there were some connections on the main board, but didn't get a chance to find/make a cable that would work. The only way it works now is to have a USB cable hanging out of the front of the stereo permanently. It was successfully working with a 16GB USB flash drive.

PROs:

1. It has all of the features I wanted at the best price I've seen. FYI, these head units are sold under many different names (Soundstream, Boss, Farenheit, etc). As far as I know, they are all the same hardware with just different branding within the software and on the bezel

2. It looks very nice when it's turned off.

NOTE: I didn't get a chance to test the bluetooth nor video. I really can't see it working well based on how the rest of unit performed.

To summarize: If the manufacturer put a lot more time and effort into designing the software and operating system, it could be a great head unit for the price.

I love the display on this unit it is really bright and fun. It sounds great too. But it is a seriously dangerous toy to have in your vehicle. Trying to adjust the volume or anything else on the unit while driving is near impossible. It is super touchy and you have to be very accurate where you touch the pad to change things. That means you have to take your attention off the road to work it. The remote works fine for volume and source but who wants to fumble with it all the time. Besides there are no audio controls on the remote. To change the sub or EQ settings you have to go through 3 layers of menus and about 10 key strokes. Who ever designed this disaster must not adjust the sub and EQ for different types of music like the rest of the world.

Bottom line is it looks very cool but it is very difficult to work. I used it for 2 weeks and replaced it with a boring Alpine 9886 that has a wonderful big volume knob and 1 touch access to the audio controls. It has a lousy display but much safer and more functional. So anyone want to buy a slightly used JVC?

"Great Value" 2009-10-29

Just picked up one of these for my 4-runner. Looks great installed. It is packed with features. Would have given it 5 stars, but it was missing a couple of minor features I would have liked to have seen. Here are my pros and cons:

Pros: Packed with great features including Nav, Ipod connection w/ cable included, Plays DVD +/-RW, Decent bluetooth, built in microphone for use with bluetooth that I have been told sounds pretty good when making a call, easy to use touchscreen interface. All in all, great features considering the price.

Cons: These are nitpicky little things that I felt were missing. None of them should really be a dealbreaker, but thought I would list them for your edification. 1) Ipod playback doesnt browse to Artist>Album like it does on the ipod. WHen you select the Artist, it just lists all the songs by the artist, regardless of what album the songs are on. This makes it a little difficult to find a specifc album unless you use the Album search. If you are like me, that search could take a while. 2) No sat radio. 3) No way to store contacts for use with Bluetooth. You can use your phone to find the number and call, then use HU. 4) No voice command option.

That is what I noticed just after a couple of days of use. Despite these shortcomings, the Dual XDVDN8290 HU is a terrific value for the price. You get 90%+ of the features offered by the more expesive stereos and if you can live with the missing features I have mentioned, I see no reason not to get one if you are in the market.

This unit was great for the price. I especially loved the amount of options available in box. The only down fall is the lack of satelite radio. But, no need to worry you can have hours of music... just attach your ipod to the included control adapter and you are set. Audio settings are great as well. You will enjoy this one!

i really like the interface really easy to touch and navigate to the features

video quality is good with dvds/ipod

i haven't install the navi yet but i will hopefully

the blue-tooth awesome no more charging the stupid ear peace just have your phone blue-tooth on and everytime you jump in the car it automatically turns on by it self how tight is that =]

Ipod feature is sweet must have the ipod cable or u can use the aux but i prefer the cable it shows the title of the artist song name and album it doesn't let you scroll so that was a little boo but still good easy feature

the bad thing about this is it has a building cooling fan and it can get loud and anoying when you lower your music to talk 2 other people driving with you i though it was the speakers but no its the stereo so that was a con for me

Excellent head unit. I have to say there are some few flaws though so i'm gonna give you the pros and cons. Overall i love it and the price was perfect.

Pros: It has excellent power. Options like Land navigation, bluetooth, digital TV, and more connections in one I like it.

Cons: tweeking the highs, mids, and lows well the lows you can mess with, but the mids and highs it has regular normal setting.

"Elegant but very complicated." 2009-09-12

This Kenwood shares some charicteristics with other models by this manufacturer. It has a smoother, deeper Bass tone and looks that fit into any dash to add that 'factory appearance' (luxury car install).

USB memory stick limitations include short file length of 250 songs before the need to add an additional folder. I have not reached the limit on the number of folders that can be put on the stick. With only one USB input, the iPod Classic Kenwood deck controls necessitate the physical unplug of the stick and the attachment of the iPod when you wish to change media.

A simple on/off would have been a nice addition - the user has to turn off the ignition to power the unit down. The brightness and the contrast of the touch screen is pretty good during the daylight hours, but you'll want a dark window tint to assist. The brightness adjustment for the screen is very lame and can't be dimmed enough for nightime driving (opinion). I have found that I can put the SRC to one of the unused sources, to keep the screen from lighting up the car interior but that only works if you have an audio source that allows the video input to be left disconnected.

DVD access is VERY clumsy unless you spring for the $$$ of the remote control that does not come with this unit. If you are a techie that is into iPod compression for video, this unit will not remember where the video was at when the ignition is turned off (while in the iPod video mode).

Great stereo for the money. the stereo sounds great, the dvd player has great picture, and you can load music up from a flash drive. it also has touch screen presets which are really great. there are a few things I would like to mention you can't by a dash kit for this stereo so you will have to modify your dash your self. and also it has a parking break wire so that the dvd player doesn't work while the car is in motion, but that can easily be bypassed by wiring the pink parking break wire into your stereo ground wire. great stereo great price.

It skips more than any other cd player I've ever had, the DVD functions are good and crystal clear, the on screen controls look more like something that should be on the predecessor to the Atari game system.
